Administration wins Maguindanao (or did it?)
June 20, 2007
The entire country, except our poor countrymen in Maguindanao, were in for
a surprise (or were they?) when Comelec teams led by their own Chairman Abalos declared successful elections in the controversial province.
Amazing, considering many a Maguidanaoan claimed that there were actually no elections that took place in that province. Well, whether they saw one happen or not, the COMELEC, or Commission on Elections, supposed to be unbiased but is not, finally decided that yes, there would be elections in Maguidanao, whether anyone saw one happen or not. But what was more amazing was that they actually allowed the infamous 12-0 votes in a number of baranggays in favor of the President’s party.
So not only did magical elections happen, but they happened with a 12-0 sweep by the president’s party. If that isn’t disgusting, I don’t know what is.
Such is Philippine politics.
